Even with the price of the PS3 console going down quite a bit over the last few months the PS3 controller is still just as expensive unfortunately. Perhaps this is due to the fact that the PS3 controller has a decent sized rechargeable lithium battery inside of it, along with some other fairly high end components. Basically you still have to pay at least $40 or more to get a brand new Playstation 3 controller, and around $30 on average for a used one. This can make it hard to buy a second controller for your PS3.

Basically the best places to get shop for the official Sony PS3 controllers are at eBay.com and Amazon.com (as usual). They seem to have the best prices from what we have seen, and they give free shipping on most of them too, at least the brand new ones. Also, Amazon seems to have some pretty interesting package deals that come with a game AND a brand new Playstation 3 controller, so you may want to check them out first.
